OHIO PLAN FOR RESISTANCE, FIGHTING PROJECT 2025, AND CREATING A MORE DEMOCRATIC ELECTION PROCESS
Thanks you to all of my subscribers and donors for supporting independent journalism and allowing me to keep my content free. To Help with this specific project venmo project-2029
Below is a list of organizations most capable of defeating harmful Project 2025 policies and strengthening democracy in your state. I encourage everyone to follow them, share their work, and help amplify their message. If you're able, I also recommend donating at least $5 to each organization over the next year.
To make it easy, I’ve created a donation schedule to help you plan your giving. I’ve also outlined the most pressing threats to democracy in your state — along with a strategy to reverse or reduce the damage. This approach is based on reverse-engineering the same tactics the right has used for years. You can explore my full methodology here:
PROJECT 2029 MY PLAN TO REVERSE PROJECT 2025
For years, people have asked, “Where’s the plan? Where’s the strategy?” So I built one. Not just vague ideas or slogans — an actual, state-by-state, person-by-person roadmap designed around your role, your location, and your power to disrupt the extremist agenda.

YOUTH VOTER SUPPRESSION TASK
Your state does not offer pre-registration for teenagers — and that’s not an accident. It’s a deliberate tactic used to suppress the youth vote by adding unnecessary obstacles at the exact moment a person first becomes eligible to engage. The right spreads the false claim that pre-registration lets minors vote, when in truth, it simply lets 16- or 17-year-olds prepare to vote at 18, usually during their first DMV visit. Blocking that option creates confusion, delays, and drop-off. And that’s the point. Every small barrier is designed to create more — until voting feels inaccessible, especially for young, marginalized, or first-time voters. In 2024, all ten states with the lowest youth turnout voted Republican. Only one state with no pre-registration and no automatic registration — New Hampshire — managed to vote blue, and even it is at serious risk of flipping red. This is how voter suppression works: quietly, systematically, and with long-term goals in mind.
To fight back, contact your state legislators monthly and demand pre-registration and automatic registration. Consider starting a petition to get this as a ballot initiative.
While anti-democratic policies are in place it is important to have at least 3 ideas for how to mitigate the issue they cause. The Right plants seeds early before they are successful in implementing policies. It starts by keeping it in the conversation. Talk about this issue everywhere — online, at school, at work. Using the outlier tool consider a place that has prevailed despite having similar anti-democratic policies like New Hampshire to identify what they may be doing differently to mitigate the issue. They send letters to teens before they turn 18. If the Democratic Party won’t take this seriously, we must. Register year-round — someone turns 18 every single day, and that means every day is an opportunity to grow the electorate. In states that allow ballot initiatives, organize around youth-driven issues like climate, housing, and education. If you're in a swing state, support digital ad campaigns that educate new voters, not just motivate them. And finally,— whether through art, social media, clubs, or local organizing — and find one new way to fight back in your community. Get creative barrier is beatable if we outnumber and out-organize it. Remember Creatives are part of the resistance and they appeal to the youth best. Finally, now that you know the problem think to yourself and in your small groups about additional things you can do to mitigate it. Add those Ideas to the comments on Substack or here for others in the coalition to consider.
Never forget that every single oppressive policy is meant to work in conjunction with other policies So consider forecasting what bas legislation may impact the youth vote.
When it is not lobbyist writing bad bills to accompany suppression it is third party bad actor’s that use the law to further suppress the vote. When the youth vote is threatened understand that the next policy will be not allowing student IDs as appropriate forms of ID, Removing ballot boxes from college campuses, restricting mail in ballot days (consider the number of young voters away at college, internships and military.
Understand that bad actors specifically target youth voters with student lists. In the 2024 election an organization used a robo-call service to send text messages to thousands of Wisconsin students warning that they could face thousands of dollars in fines and prison time for voting at wrong location/wrong state. Its was meant to intimidate and confuse young voters n to questioning the validity of their registration. Groups like the Women League of Voters quickly tried to dismantle the misinformation but it was unexpected. Except this in all elections moving forward. Preemptively educate on these rights, support the organizations that combat these big firms and do your best to convince your legislators to ban such activity in your state. Wisconsin was the closest election in the country with just over 400 votes per county lost. These little targeted actions may not seem like much but they add up in a way that tilts results in their favor- They would not spend millions of dollars to text a few thousand people if their internal data did not prove that it worked. Feel free to screenshot this logo to recruit online or at college campuses and high-schools.
Feel free to start your own Facebook group for organizing and planning make this project your own!
REGISTRATION SUPPRESSION TASK
Your state either does not have Automatic voter registration or only has partial. Automatic voter registration is not only the most helpful tool in increasing voter turnout but it results in the most accurate voter rolls in the country. Definitely use this as a talking point and become very educated on this topic. Not only is this the best tool for increasing voter turnout, it eliminates the party’s biggest election time expense-voter registration efforts. The DNC should be investing heavily in every single state to advocate for this policy using the policy comparison tool to examine the results of states that previously did not have AVR but implemented it like Virgina. The results are impressive and drive home to you the activists how impactful creating this change would be.
Remember that the right has talking points for everything and you must adopt some yourself, and interesting fact about AVR is that 80% of Americans want AVR repeating this fact in addition to how secure the practice is, will be helpful when constructing scripts to call your lawmakers.
Here is an example of a script you can use, remember if you are shy you can always leave voicemails.
SUPPRESION FORECAST REGISTRATION
Your state does not have AVR and will be a target for policies that accompany it they need to be resisted and protested heavily. In states that lack AVR the following the top policies right wing lobbyists will advocate for
•Voter Id Laws (followed by eliminating certain ID types)
•In Person Voter Registration (followed by defunding/closures of polling locations)
•Registration Deadlines (Usually 30 days before an election with no grace period)
•Voter purges critical because the movement is now questioning votes after elections in addition to before.
SUPPRESION TASK VOTER PURGES ***SPECIAL TASK FOR PROTESTORS***
Combating purges is one of the more difficult tasks for individual activists to impact but that makes it among the most critical the DNC and all democratic organizations need to focus heavily on this purging voters that have not voted frequently enough not only ensures that the right always has an advantage in numbers but it dismantles the left strategy which relies heavily on messaging that is meant to encourage people that feel disenfranchised to participate in elections as well as voter registration activity both of these things are huge expenses to the Democratic Party and candidates so investing heavily now ultimately saves the party a substantial amount of funds in the future bad actors can simply watch the roles as we register people and decide how to deduct voters based on the numbers provided one person can litigate to get more people taken off the roles in one afternoon then a coalition can register in six months so while it is critical to pay attention to this and communicate to your state legislators the majority of this work will be done through litigation so be true to contribute what you can to the conglomerate network with heavy emphasis on the NAACP Brennan Center for law and ACLU in your state or nationwide pay attention and make a list of attorneys in your state that have actively litigated these matters support legal funds. When you're unable to support this effort financially your job is to create as much content as possible talking about it and to amplify every single one of their social media pages additionally sign up for their newsletters they're going to be an ongoing task they are the experts and will be able to give activists in specific states real time information and actions familiarize yourself with the organizations in your state that were active and supporting these purges Call them out and protest them wherever they are they are not strong enough to handle a protest force. Be prepared when following the organizations to be willing to actively join in on a lawsuit.
For protestors and investigators it is important to identify the biggest threats to voting rights and who is behind the purges. Remember that big figures, the pillars we always try to take down, are used to aggressive news pieces and large protests. The smaller operatives living in our communities cannot handle it. Consider this when identifying places that small protests may make a difference, boycott lists, and investigative articles and social media posts- even memes.
A few examples
Nancy Strzelecki, of Cleves. Made hundreds of requests to get lawful voters removed from rolls.
SUPPRESSION FORECAST TASK
IDENTIFYING MOS IMPORTANT COUNTIES
Allowing voter purges based on voter infrequency is meant to create precedent that allows additional suppression purges are critical because they invite the most diabolical third parties to meddle they're heavily funded organizations that not only actively seek to purge voters all year but have hard new territory and challenging elections after the fact that is why this issue is so critical it is important to understand that the right wing has a strategy for the communities that they operate in an attempt to purge the counties that the left need to be most concerned about in their state are counties that are 15% or more Black, have life expectancy under 70 have a median income of $45,000 a year or less and a border the state the largest of these purges occurred in Wisconsin where the election was dangerously close consider this with other tactics used there and it's abundantly clear that without all of these policies in conjunction with each other the right wouldn't have won deeply understanding all of these connections what came before them and what's likely to come after them and protecting these communities is a great exercise and understanding how elections are truly taken from us but why it is so so so important to vote.
Consider what counties or communities in your state will be most impacted. Stay involved and connected with he organizations listed that can give you guidance in real time as the situation is always changing.
Some notable counties in Ohio where the right appears to be doing the most dirty work are:
Cuyahoga
Franklin
Hamilton
Lucas
Montgomery
summit
Mahoning
SUPPRESION TASK VOTER ID
Now that you are trained on the obstacles that present themselves to voters in your state and now that you are prepared for the obstacles to come consider visiting democracy maps and look at other policies in your state to consider adding those squares to the game or becoming more educated now that Your electorate has made it through registering to vote, staying on the rolls and finding their voting location they must present an ID to vote commenting voter ID laws significantly impacts the outcome of elections and disenfranchises many people this is another example of a policy that the left allows to slip through because it impacts what they believe to be a seemingly small population and the right has their talking points pinned down so well that they have framed these laws as election integrity laws, the majority of the left’s base has not educated on the impacts of these laws or formulated their own talking points. Activists must take on this task and educate others. Some ideas will be provided in the Project 2029 toolbox. In the meantime, what the party should be doing is pretty obvious: provide IDs. Host passport and ID drives in the communities most impacted as well as in counties that were close were close using the same methodology as organizing the state. Any county that was in a 6% victory margin should be doing this. If the party or other organizations do not do this activists can engage their local city with this idea and look for sponsors. Business owners also have a unique opportunity in hosting these events but also upholding other democratic policies like closing on election day and announcing well in advance so people are mindful the day is near approaching. Activists can also
1.Host voter ID clinics consider partnering with local library to host there (this also upholds institutions)
2.Create Voter ID Resource Map/Flyer list locations, hours, and cost of an ID at specific places in your community.
3.Door to Door ID Check
4.Digital Misinformation Dismantling Campaign Social Media
5.Organize car pool rides to the DMV
6. Create and distribute election day check list
VOTER ID SUPPRESSION FORECAST TASK
Voter ID laws are strongly linked to purges and should be studied and understood in tandem because IDs are often obtained at the same time as voter registration. Both the applicant and the employee at the DMV play a role in the application therefore both could make a mistake such as not checking the box stating the applicant is a US Citizen. Purge groups have used this to their advantage by line-iteming every single element of an ID application in order to purge them. The most concerning usage of this is not the purging of voters before an election but the trending use of this after someone has attempted to vote or voted. Purge groups in Pennsylvania eliminated 2000 teenage first-time voters not because they made an error but the DMV did. A Judge did not allow them to re-register. The DNC should be challenging this in court. Likewise, in North Carolina they attempted to retract the votes of 60k voters because they recently passed a law requiring specific documents but many of the voters were older and obtained ID before this law was passed.
For every obstacle, the right creates another. If they successfully can remove a vote after registering, staying on the rolls, finding your polling location, casting your vote, and then can challenge your vote because of application errors they will simply make voters required to bring more documents and fill out more questions in order to obtain ID in order to increase the error rate to a number that is satisfactory to them.
GERRYMANDERING
Let’s be honest, Ohio does not just have a gerrymandering problem but a full blown crisis and in many ways Ohio has put up a good fight. This is probably the most oppression issue in the state of Ohio and politicians lack of regard for the courts is truly astounding.
. Republicans are fully cognizant of the fact they cannot win or at least lose substantial power if they cannot cheat through redistricting. For this reason, much like purges, the efforts will be heavily fought usually in the form of poorly written ballot initiatives meant to confuse the voter so early outreach and advocacy is necessary. Because they will fight so hard, much this battle will also require litigation and therefore our conglomerate will rely heavily on us to fund efforts. The DNC needs to be participating in these efforts.
The Organizations from our coalition that are most involved with redistricting are League of Women Voters, Brenan Center for Justice, and campaign legal center. Immediately follow and get their newsletter for real times actions. Begin boosting their messages immediately.
Us the Dave’s maps for ideas on fair districting and to understand how and why your districts are unfair.
You can also:
1. Organize a workshop at a public place like a local library to teach about redistricting and the consequences. 2. Create flyers using Dave’s map that explain how your states districts are unfair and put them up around town. 3. Plan a social media advocacy campaign. 4. Organize creative protests like sidewalk chalk drawings of district. 5. Advocate for National policy.
WILD CARD- FEDERAL POLICY OHIONAS MUST RESIST MOST!
Equal Representation Act (H.R. 151)
The Equal Representation Act (H.R. 151) is a bill introduced in 2025 that would require the U.S. Census to include a question about citizenship status and use that data to change how congressional seats are distributed. Instead of counting every person living in the U.S.—as has been the standard—it would count only U.S. citizens when drawing congressional districts. This would drastically shift political power by reducing representation in areas with large immigrant populations, even if those residents live, work, and pay taxes in the U.S. The result would be fewer House seats and Electoral College votes for states with more non-citizens, and more political power for states with smaller, whiter, and more rural citizen populations.
States like California, Texas, New York, and Florida—which have large non-citizen populations—would lose seats in the House and therefore lose electoral votes.
States with fewer immigrants, like Montana, West Virginia, or Idaho, could gain electoral votes without any actual population growth—simply because their share of the "citizen" population would go up.
This would create a system where millions of legal residents are invisible in political representation, even though they’re part of the economy and communities. In essence, the bill shifts power toward more conservative, less diverse states and undermines the idea of “one person, one vote.”
Advocate for Prisoners to not be counted where their prison is but where they will be released to or address at time of apprehension.
I will continue to update and give tasks unique to your region on substack and tiktok!
